An unusual habit of “forgetting” his wallet every time they went out to dinner put a 32-year-old woman’s relationship with her 39-year-old boyfriend to the test. The woman finally had enough of this pattern that had been going on for months.
They had been together for nine months and often went out to eat with her boyfriend’s two young children. In spite of this, the woman’s boyfriend would “forget” his credit card at home every time they went out to eat. To make things worse, the woman had to pay the bill, which began to hurt her funds.
One night, the woman had just gotten paid from her second part-time job and was excited to go on a date with her boyfriend and his kids. Yet, when she told him to remember to bring his wallet, he laughed it off, and he “forgot” it again.
He asked the woman to pay for dinner when she told him he was “forgetting” to do so, but she had had enough. She got up and left the restaurant, leaving her boyfriend and his kids to find their own way.
The couple got into a heated fight over it, with the boyfriend saying the woman was selfish and didn’t care about his kids. When the woman told her story on Reddit, though, many people agreed with her and said that her boyfriend was taking advantage of her kindness.
The argument makes us think about how relationships work and how important it is to talk to each other and respect each other. What do you think? Should the woman have paid for dinner and dealt with the problem later, or was she right to stand up for herself and refuse to be cheated?
