Belinda “Love” Rygier, an Australian reality TV personality, has talked about how she used to be addicted to sex. Rygier surprised fans after being on The Bachelor Australia in 2017 when she said she had slept with more than 700 guys and typically went out six nights a week to find her next lover.
Rygier’s addiction was caused by underlying problems, such as an insecure attachment style that he formed as a child. She used sex to feel better about herself, which worked for a while but ended up hurting her more. “I didn’t know I had the problem until I fixed it,” Rygier said, looking back on her experience.
Rygier’s life changed when one of her lovers abused her. She knew she needed help after being shoved down the stairs and imprisoned in a garage. Rygier went to counselling and began her recovery journey after this horrible event.
Rygier is now an Intuitive Love-Confidence Coach, helping people get through the same problems. She has been sober for almost ten years and has opted to stay celibate because she thinks that people often use sex for the wrong reasons, such wanting fast validation instead of real connection.
Rygier’s story shows that with the correct help and attitude, anyone can get well. She is motivated to use what she has learnt to assist other people find love and lasting relationships. “You have to heal the hurt, love yourself, and know your attachment style and love language to heal,” she says.
