A Grandma’s Bad Attempt to Teach Her Grandchildren to Sleep Causes a Family Fight

Parents and other adults who care for kids can have heated arguments about sleep training. Some people swear by how well it works, while others say it’s too strong. One new mom’s relationship with her mother is very bad because her mother tried to sleep train her three-month-old baby without her permission.

The baby, Lila, had been for a visit with her grandparents. Every week, her mum video called them, but this was their first meeting in real life. Lila’s grandparents had even set up a cot in the spare room because they were so excited.

But things changed when Lila’s grandmother suggested that she be taught to sleep train. Lila’s mother was sure that this was not the right way to treat her child. To make things worse, Lila’s grandmother locked her in the room to cry it out.

Lila’s mum was freaking out when she saw that the door was locked. She asked her mum for the key right away, but her mum said she needed to work on her sleep training first. Things got worse until Lila’s dad stepped in and demanded the key.

The event has made things between the family less pleasant. Because of what her mother did, Lila’s mum feels cheated and no longer wants to stay the night at her parents’ house. The grandmother, on the other hand, doesn’t seem to understand what she did; she even called Lila’s mom a “helicopter parent.”

People on Reddit have commented on the situation, and many of them are angry at what the grandmother did. Some people have said that locking a baby in a room is dangerous because accidents and trauma could happen.

As the family deals with this tough situation, one thing is clear: parents, not grandparents, should make the choice to sleep train their child.
