Kindness that doesn’t cost anything changes everything.

Cleo had been a cab driver for two years and had seen a lot. She had seen every kind of customer you can think of, from rowdy partygoers to stressed-out workers. She was not ready for the night that would change her life forever, though.

It was a cold November night, and Cleo was driving her cab through the quiet streets of downtown. Every shift felt hard when I was eight months pregnant. Her back hurt, and it felt like her baby was kicking all the time. Cleo was tired, but her mother feelings were still strong, and she couldn’t help but think about the life she wanted to build for her child.

Cleo’s mind kept going back to the sad thoughts of her past as she drove. Five months ago, her husband told her that he had gotten another woman pregnant and left her. The news broke Cleo’s heart and made her money problems worse. But she was set on making things better for herself and her child.

Cleo was starting to feel stressed out when she saw a person stumbling along the side of the road. Cleo was hesitant at first, but her gut told her to stop and help. The man was cold, wet all the way through, and in pain, he was holding his arm. Cleo knew she had to move quickly.

Cleo rolled down her window right away and offered to take the man for a ride. Cleo’s heart was racing with fear as they sped away from the car that was after them. But she wouldn’t give up. She used her quick thinking and driving skills to get away from the people who were after them.

They finally got to the hospital, and the man thanked Cleo very much before leaving into the night. When Cleo got home, she was tired but glad that the experience was over. But she had no idea that her kind act for no reason was just the start of an amazing journey.

Cleo woke up the next morning to the sound of engines outside her house. From her window, she could see a row of black SUVs and guys in suits all the way down the street. Out of the blue, the stranger from the night before showed up at her door, clean-shaven and wearing a fitted suit.

He said his name was Archie Atkinson and that he was being held for ransom by someone who had kidnapped him. His daring saved his life, and his family would always be grateful to her. To show how grateful they were, Archie’s dad gave Cleo a cheque for a huge amount of money.

But that was just the start. Cleo was also offered a job by Archie’s family as the leader of their new neighbourhood safety project. The kind thing she did for no reason made them think she was a good person and that she would be great at making their town safer.

It made Cleo feel hopeful and excited about the future as she looked down at her belly. She knew that she still had problems to solve, but she also believed that she could do it. With the help of Archie’s family, Cleo finally felt like she could start making her life what it should be.
