With a career that covers decades, Tom Selleck has cemented his place as a Hollywood legend.
In his early years, Selleck had small parts in films and TV shows, and he even went on The Dating Game. Before his big break, he served in the military and did a short time with 20th Century Fox’s talent program. “I was lucky not to get a real job until I was 35,” he said. I sounded younger than I looked when I was 25.
The success of Magnum P.I., which earned him five Emmy nods and a win, almost didn’t happen. According to Selleck, “If Magnum hadn’t worked out, I’d never have worked again.”
Selleck has been in Blue Bloods since 2010 and does many of his own stunts. He told her, “My back’s kind of messed up.” Even though he is hurt, he stays philosophical because he knows that the decisions he makes have physical costs.
Selleck stays busy at his ranch in California, where he takes care of his family and raises horses. He was married to Jillie Mack for 35 years and said, “I quit Magnum to have a family.” He said that the ranch gives his daughter peace and a safe place to grow up.
