The joy of welcoming a new life into the world can be overwhelming, but for one young couple, their happiness was short-lived. Savannah Bliss and her husband, Noah Benjamin Bliss, were over the moon about the arrival of their twins, Gunner and Madelyn. However, in a shocking turn of events, Noah was arrested and charged with the murder of their three-week-old son, Gunner.
According to Savannah, she had left Gunner in Noah’s care while she visited their daughter, Madelyn, in the NICU at WakeMed. But when she returned, she was met with devastating news: Gunner had been injured while in his father’s care. The newborn had suffered from head trauma, including brain bleeding and swelling, which had deprived him of oxygen.
The nursing staff at WakeMed informed Savannah that Gunner’s injuries were consistent with being shaken vigorously. The young mother was left reeling, struggling to comprehend how her husband, who had seemed like a proud and loving father, could have committed such a heinous act.
Noah, 22, was arrested at WakeMed and charged with first-degree murder, child abuse, and inflicting serious bodily injury on Gunner. He was denied bond and is currently being held in jail, awaiting his next court appearance.
Savannah is still trying to come to terms with the loss of her son. She remembers Noah as a happy and proud father, and she cannot understand why he would harm their child. “I trusted him, that was his daddy… he loved his babies,” she said, her voice filled with grief and confusion.
As Savannah navigates this difficult time, she is determined to seek justice for her son. “I want justice for my son,” she said. “He was innocent.” Our thoughts and prayers are with Savannah as she grieves the loss of her beloved child.
