The handshake symbol is a new way to make parking spaces safer.

There is a new sign in some parking spots in Pembroke, Ontario. The kiss icon is part of a community safety programme that aims to keep people who do business online safe.

Outside of the Pembroke OPP station, the marked parking spots are “community safety zones” where people can meet to trade goods and money. The goal of this project, which is called “Safe Trade,” is to make internet shopping safer by lowering the chance of scams and other crimes.

The Upper Ottawa Valley OPP says that these safety zones are always open and don’t need any bookings. This project is especially important during the holidays, when people shop and do business online more often.

The OPP makes it clear that police will not be witnesses or go between people during deals. But if things get worse and turn into a crime, police will show up and get engaged.

The OPP says that to stay safe when doing business online, you should meet in a busy public place with a trusted friend or family member and do business during the day. Also, it’s important to keep track of all the conversations you have with the buyer or seller.

Carmi Levy, a technology expert, says it’s important to do your research before making an online purchase. He says to look into the seller’s history, see what other people say about them, and make sure you see the item in person before you pay for it.

Parking spots with the handshake sign are a good idea because they make it safer for people to do business online. Again, safety should always come first, but especially when doing business online with people you don’t know.
