The incident occurred on August 1, when Lucas and Nicole were attempting to fix a dirt bike on the side of the road. A car driven by 31-year-old Raymond Surber crashed into them, leaving both Lucas and Nicole injured. However, Lucas’s swift decision to push his wife out of the way of the oncoming car saved her life, but left him with more severe injuries.
