In a world where love is supposed to be free of judgment, some people still can’t look past appearances. That’s exactly what Lauren Kaye, 31, and her partner Hannah, 29, have faced since they got married. What should have been a celebration of their love turned into a storm of online hate, with strangers accusing Lauren of being a “paedophile” simply because Hannah looks much younger than her age.
Lauren and Hannah tied the knot in a small, heartfelt ceremony in the U.K. last summer. While it was a joyful occasion for them, the internet was not kind. Many people commented cruelly on photos of the couple, with some saying Hannah looked like a child. Lauren, however, has handled the criticism with calm and grace. She shared in an interview that while she sees the comments, they don’t affect her much, as she’s learned to ignore the negativity.

What does bother Lauren, though, is how people treat Hannah in real life. When they’re out in public, people often assume Lauren is Hannah’s mother. It’s a frustrating experience, especially when people direct conversations at Lauren as if Hannah isn’t there.
For Hannah, the harsh words can be even more difficult. Being mistaken for a child feels humiliating, and even simple activities like buying certain items or accepting deliveries often lead to requests for ID. Though these comparisons sting, she says being mistaken for a child is still better than being accused of something as serious and harmful as pedophilia.

Despite the criticism, Hannah isn’t interested in changing her style or appearance to suit other people’s expectations. She points out that having a partner who doesn’t fit traditional norms shouldn’t be shocking in this day and age. Confident in who she is, Hannah says she has nothing to hide and no reason to feel ashamed of how she looks or who she loves.
Their journey together began just two years ago after they met through a dating app. Things moved quickly, and in January 2024, Lauren proposed. Seven months later, they were married. Now, their focus is on something even more exciting: becoming parents to triplets through IVF.

Lauren, who has two children from a previous relationship, wanted to grow her family. However, IVF options in the U.K. weren’t working out. That’s when they decided to go to Cyprus for the procedure. Their very first round of IVF was successful, and the couple is now expecting triplets. For Lauren, it’s an emotional experience. This time around, she’s going through it with a loving and supportive partner by her side.
The pregnancy seems to be going well so far, although it hasn’t been without challenges. Lauren recently shared an update on social media, saying that the triplets kept her up all night with heartburn but that she could feel them moving around in the morning. The couple plans to deliver the babies via C-section.
As their due date approaches, Lauren and Hannah have turned to their online supporters for help. After Hannah lost her job and doctors said the babies could be born early, the couple started a GoFundMe campaign to help cover unexpected costs. At first, Lauren felt unsure about asking for help. But after receiving countless messages of support, they decided to go ahead with the fundraiser.

They’ve also received gifts and donations from people on their wish list and have taken the time to thank everyone—including those who had once trolled them—for their unexpected generosity. Their hearts are full as they prepare for the arrival of their three little ones and continue to share their story with the people who’ve been cheering them on from afar.
Even though the criticism hasn’t gone away, Lauren and Hannah are choosing to focus on what really matters: their growing family, their strong relationship, and a future filled with love. No matter what others say, they remain united and ready to take on the next chapter of their lives together.
