A harrowing discovery was made in a Nebraska dumpster when a passerby heard an animal’s cries for help. To their shock, it wasn’t a raccoon, but a dog, wrapped in duct tape around his head, tail, and legs, with debris caked in his fur. The Nebraska Humane Society was alerted, and staff member Kevin Wiederin described the scene as “the most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen.”
Despite the traumatic experience, the dog, later named Leo, was found to be otherwise healthy and in good spirits after the tape was removed. A microchip revealed Leo’s identity, and he was reunited with his overjoyed owner, Erin Dillon-Pasillas, who had been frantically searching for him.
Erin was relieved to have Leo back, but understandably distraught over the cruel treatment he endured. “He’s the sweetest dog! I don’t know why anyone would do this,” she said. Leo is now recovering and receiving the care he needs. The Nebraska Humane Society is seeking information about the perpetrator, offering a $1,000 reward for any leads that result in an arrest.
