My sister, who is eight years old, asked a simple question that set off a chain of events that became a family joke that will last for years. My sister asked my dad about the car buttons while my mum and I were shopping. She was especially interested in the button that had a picture of wavy lines above a chair and said it would warm the seat.
In a fun moment of mischief, my dad told my sister that pressing the button would throw her out of the car. Even though my sister didn’t believe it, she had to ask again when my mom and I got back to the car. She asked my mum what the button really did to get a second view.
My mum was smart; she pretended to think about the question and then pushed the button. My sister’s response was quick and strong. “Noooo!” she yelled, clearly thinking she was going to be thrown out of the car. My dad still laughs about it 15 years later, and it’s become a favourite family story. My sister, on the other hand, finds the experience less funny.
