The remains of Paityn, 9, Evelyn, 8, and Olivia Decker, 5, were found near the Rock Island Campground in Chelan County, Washington. They had plastic bags over their heads and zip ties around their wrists.
Investigators have found that Decker made disturbing web searches days before the suspected killings, including “how to relocate to Canada” and “how does a person move to Canada.” He reportedly searched a Canadian job website, increasing suspicions that he may be planning to flee to Canada. Decker’s phone records show that he was at a campground near the border on the same day he performed these searches, which raised questions about what he was up to.
More than 100 officers, helicopters, and drones are now looking for Decker. Washington Governor Bob Ferguson has called in the National Guard to help with the hunt. Officials are anxious about Decker’s military history because it could help him avoid being caught. As a veteran, he’s trained in wilderness survival, navigation, and long-distance moves, making him a potentially elusive target.
Police are searching the woods, and popular camping and trekking spots are closed till further notice. The Enchantments, a popular mountain trail and place to go backpacking, will stay closed until at least June 18. People who live in adjacent counties have been told to lock their doors, leave their outside lights on, and keep their window blinds open.
A $20,000 reward is being offered for any tip that leads to Decker’s arrest. Officials are asking people to keep alert and report any possible sightings. Newly published pictures show Decker’s unique tattoos. The last known sighting of him was on a Ring doorbell video, which showed him wearing sunglasses just before the bodies were found.
People are being told not to get close to or talk to Decker at all, because the police still don’t know if he’s armed. The inquiry is still going on, and several authorities are working together to catch Decker ¹ ².
