A Promise Kept: A Warm Coming Back Together in Times Square

It was prom night, and Peter and Sally were standing under the fairy lights. They felt sad and hopeful at the same time. They promised each other that they would meet again in Times Square on Christmas Eve, ten years from now. They knew that their love would have to stand the test of time and distance as they hugged each other close.

After ten years, Peter stood in Times Square, full of hope and excitement. He thought it was Sally when he saw a young girl carrying a yellow umbrella. The girl, whose name was Betty, told Peter something that would change his life forever.

Betty’s green eyes made Peter feel like he knew her right away when he looked into them. He looked at Sally like he had seen her before. But Betty’s words were a hard wake-up call: Two years have passed since Sally’s death. Betty’s small hand reached out and anchored Peter in the middle of his chaos as his world fell apart around him.

When Peter realised the truth, his legs almost gave way. Betty was by his side, though, and she gave him the strength to face the truth that Sally had died. The discovery was sad, but it also made Peter feel like the story was over and a new one could begin.

Peter knew Betty was his daughter as he got down on his knees in front of her. The words told us something and promised something. When Peter grabbed Betty and held her tightly, his heart filled with love and thanks.

Peter worked hard over the next few months to get Betty to join his life. She moved in with him, and his home was filled with the sound of her laughing. They laid yellow roses on Sally’s grave because that was her favourite colour and a sign of a fresh start.

As they walked away from the grave, Peter put his arm around his daughter. He felt sad and thankful at the same time. He told Sally, “I’ll never let you go,” keeping a promise he had made to both of them.
