“From Darkness to Light”: Christina Phillips’ story of how she lost 536 pounds

Christina Phillips used to live her life based on how much she weighed. Everyday jobs were hard for her because she weighed 708 pounds, and she lost her independence. She wouldn’t give up, though.

With the help of Dr. Nowzaradan on “My 600-lb Life,” Phillips started a journey that would change his life. Her goal to lose weight wasn’t just about weight; it was also about how she felt.

Phillips’ first problems were made worse by upset eating and relationships that helped her. She ate 7,000 calories every day, and her family’s support slowed her down without meaning to.

Phillips had gastric bypass surgery in 2013. This was the start of a new life for her. She promised to eat well, watch her portions, and work out regularly.

Phillips cut out 536 pounds, which is a huge weight loss. She used to be so tired that she could barely walk a few steps before she started enjoying simple things like taking her nephew to the park.

Phillips was able to make hard decisions because she felt free and independent. She moved out of her family’s house, stopped her unhealthy marriage, and began dating Shane, a friend who would always be there for her.

Phillips had surgery to remove skin, which made her feel better about her trip. “I’ve been working really hard lately to be okay with who I am,” she added.

Phillips had a child in 2021, which was a full circle time for her because she had been dependent on others and now was taking care of her own child.
