As I got ready for my wedding, I knew that my mom would be helping to plan it. It had always been her dream to plan a wedding, since she had never been in one herself. But her excitement was getting close to being an addiction.
My mother was sitting in the bride’s dressing room on my wedding day, wearing a full white bridal gown and carrying a bouquet. It scared me to death. She said that my wedding manager, Anna, had called her and told her to wear the dress.
I called Anna right away, and she denied making the call. She told me that her boss, Miranda James, who used to date my fiancĂ© Peter, had asked for my mom’s phone number.
I talked to Peter about it, and we went to Miranda’s office together. She said she planned the surprise because she thought it would be “fun.” Peter and I were shocked by what she did.
To keep my mum from getting even more embarrassed, I made a social media post about Miranda’s mean joke. The reaction was quick, and many people were angry at her behaviour.
My mother walked me down the aisle with a big smile on her face as I said my vows to Peter. I chose to give my mum the wedding she earned after the wedding. I worked with a new event planner behind her back to plan a surprise wedding party for her.
We went to the place under the guise of an anniversary party. My mother broke down in tears when she realised what was going on. It was a beautiful moment when I helped her put on her dream wedding dress.
We became closer because of this, and I was glad I could give my mom the wedding she had always wanted.
