When parents need help with their kids’ homework too

Parents and kids alike are left scratching their heads as the school year goes on because homework seems to get harder and harder. Thank goodness there are always internet groups like Reddit and Twitter that can help.

Recently, a lot of parents have been posting about their kids’ difficult school assignments on social media in the hopes that someone can help them. Students in first grade had to find pictures that had the same ending sound as a fish’s fin as part of a project. A frog, a hamburger bun, a jar lid, and a spoon were the choices.

Redditors stepped in and told them that the question wasn’t looking for a rhyme, but rather a word that finished in “n.” They said that both “bun” and “spoon” were good choices. This conversation showed how important it is to have community support when dealing with the often-confusing world of chores.

There was a kindergarten assignment that asked for a three-letter word to describe a picture of a bunny and her babies. This parent was stuck. Someone on Reddit who was willing to help said that the answer was “pet,” and they said that the paper was trying to be smart by moving the sound of the letter to the end of the word.

Parents were also confused by a math problem from the third grade. “Janell had fifteen marbles,” the question said. She lost some. “How many marbles does Janell have now?” People on Reddit came up with humorous answers, such as “less than 15” and “she still has some left.” Some people even said the question wasn’t clear enough for third graders.

These examples show how helpful it can be to get help from other people when you’re having trouble with your homework. We can make learning easier and more fun for everyone if we all work together and share what we know.
