The mother of seven, Melissa Sloan, has been called Britain’s “most tattooed mother” because she has over 800 tattoos. But Sloan recently shared a picture of herself without her famous tattoos, which shocked many people with how different she looked.
Sloan got her first tattoo ten years ago, and for ten years, she got three new ones every week. Ink had covered most of her face and body, so she had forgotten what she looked like without it. Sloan used three pounds’ worth of foundation to hide her tattoos to remind herself.

The way her family felt about it was split. She had two young boys who were shocked by the change and didn’t recognise their mum without the tattoos. They wouldn’t even talk to her, telling her to ‘go back to your crazy mum’. Sloan’s older children have also grown apart from her because they don’t like her tattoos.
People have given Sloan a lot of comments on how beautiful she looks without the tattoos, even though there have been mixed responses. She has made it clear, though, that she is happy with her tattoos and doesn’t feel bad about having them. Sloan’s tattoos stand for freedom, creativity, and the ability to stand up to criticism.
Sloan knows that some people won’t understand or like the way she looks, but she doesn’t change who she is. She wants her kids to learn that everyone is different and that beauty comes in many forms by seeing her tattoos.
