That was ten years ago, when Sara’s fiancĂ© Daniel disappeared without a word, leaving her to raise his son Adam from a previous marriage. Now Daniel is back and wants to take Adam away, and Sara has to face the lies and secrets that have been following her for decades.
When the doorbell rang, Sara’s world fell apart. Daniel was on her porch with a lawyer by his side, carrying a case that would change everything.
Daniel left all of a sudden, but it wasn’t out of love for his father or guilt. It was out of greed. Adam’s grandfather left him a large inheritance, and Daniel tried to get it by taking control of Adam.
Sara began to fight to keep Adam and her family safe. With the help of Judith, her lawyer, they found out what Daniel was really trying to do.
In court, Judith told the truth about Daniel’s plans, showing a pattern of neglect and loss. The judge gave Adam, who is now 13, a voice, and what he said shook the case.
Adam said, “Sara has been my mum for ten years.” “She raised me and has been there for me through everything.” The man sitting there is someone I don’t know. Even though he’s my blood father, he hasn’t been my father in any meaningful way.
It was clear what the judge thought: Adam would stay with Sara.
Adam smiled at Sara as they left the building. “I’m glad it’s over, Mum.”
Sara felt proud and loved. “So am I,” she said in a whisper as she held her son close.
Even though their trip wasn’t over yet, Sara’s love and commitment to Adam would never change.
“What do we do with the inheritance now?” Adam asked.
Sara gave a small smile. “You can have that money, Adam.” I’m not going to take any of it. It’s for your future, no matter what you decide to do.
Adam raised his head and looked at her with sure eyes. “My future is with you, Mum.”
