Amanda and Mark were unable to have children for many years until they adopted Sam, a sweet 3-year-old. But their happiness didn’t last long. Mark’s sudden yell, “We must return him!” during Sam’s first bath shocked Amanda.
Amanda thought back to the adoption process and how she had carefully kept track of all the papers while Mark worked on his business. They wanted a baby at first, but the long wait lists made her think about older kids instead.
After seeing Sam’s picture, she fell in love with his beautiful ocean-blue eyes and smile. Amanda felt a strange link to him because his mother had left him.
After the adoption process was over, they brought Sam home. Mark offered to bathe him, but Amanda ran to the bathroom when Mark yelled in fear.
“What do you mean, return him?” She asked with a shaking voice.
Mark had a pale face. “I know I’m not up to this task.” I can’t treat him like my own child.
Amanda was very sad. What made Mark decide to change his mind so quickly?
While she washed Sam, she saw that he had the same scar on his left foot as Mark.
Amanda talked to Mark that night, her thoughts rushing. “The birthmark on his foot is identical to yours.”
Mark thought it was just an accident, but Amanda felt something was wrong. She got Sam’s DNA samples in secret and sent them to be tested.
The results supported her guesses: Mark was Sam’s real father.
Amanda’s whole world fell apart. Mark told her he had a one-night stand four years before, and the truth hit her like a wave.
She asked for a divorce and full custody of Sam because her heart was heavy. Mark didn’t say anything.
After they got divorced, Amanda promised to raise Sam as if he were her own child. “Love is always a decision, but it’s not always easy.”
As the years went by, Sam became a great young man. Mark called out to Amanda from time to time, but Amanda was firm: Sam was hers, and she would never give him up.
Their story had many twists and turns that no one saw coming. It shows how complicated relationships can be and how powerful pure love can be.
