Love, trust, passion, and arguments all need to be in balance for a marriage to work. This delicate balance is wonderfully shown by a funny story.
A wife got angry when her husband spent a lot of time with his friends. She felt ignored and wondered why he chose their company over hers. She talked to him about it one day and asked why he spent so much time at the pub.
The husband saw a chance to give her his point of view and asked her to spend the night with him and his friends. As she tried to understand, she agreed.
She was overwhelmed by the loud music, cigarette smoke, and raucous laughing when she walked into the pub. Even though she wasn’t sure at first, she stayed because she was interested in her husband’s evenings.
“What’ll you have?” the husband asked at the bar. What she said was, “Whatever you’re having.” It was two shots of strong, bitter booze that he asked for. After he drank his drink without any trouble, his wife did the same thing and took a careful sip.
She reacted right away and strongly, feeling sick and coughing and gasping. She wiped her mouth and asked, “How can you drink this?”
Her husband gave her a knowing smile. “Now you see, I’m not enjoying myself every night!” His wife finally got that his trips weren’t about what he wanted, but about what he could handle.
